The beach always feels like coming home. The sea inspires me to step out of my comfort zone. After a visit, there is space in my head which makes me happy. As a child, I fell in love with it during our summer holidays with my family. Today my family and I spend as much time as possible at the beach in all kind of weather circumstances. We are fanatic kitesurfers.

All the time I collected 'Shells of the day', feathers, build things of stones and made a lot of pictures. Since a while, I noticed that there are a lot of small plastics on the beach. So Instead of collecting ' The Shell of the day' it became 'The Plastic of the day'. With those small plastics,
I make 'Guardians of the beach'.Little persons with an own personality and name. Sometimes I place 'The family' in the dunes as an art project. Hopefully, their presence will create awareness about the problems around plastic soup in our oceans.

Friends also collect trash during their holidays around the world. So there is a new family born:'Guardians of the world.'
